The 4th Annual Seize the Day: Amer’s Epilepsy Trail Run is now open for registration. This exciting event, featuring 5K and 10K competitive trail races, as well as a One-Mile Fun Run/Walk, will take place on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Mendon Ponds Park in Mendon, NY.
The trail races will start and end at the North Meadow Trailhead, located on Canfield Road, between Douglas Road and Pittsford-Mendon Center Road. The One-Mile Fun Run/Walk will follow the scenic Pine Woods Trail across the street. Check-in and onsite registration for all races will begin at 8:00 AM. The 5K and 10K races will commence at 9:00 AM, with a registration fee of $35 per person. The One-Mile Fun Run/Walk, which will not be timed, will start at 9:30 AM, with a registration fee of $10 per person.
Participants can register online at www.epiny.org/seizetheday.
The event is generously presented by sponsors Armbruster Capital Management and the Glover-Crask Charitable Trust. All proceeds from the race will support the Epilepsy Alliance of West Central New York, the epilepsy services division of Empowering People’s Independence (EPI). EPI provides critical services to thousands of children and adults with epilepsy and seizure disorders across Upstate New York.
This year’s race chair is Nyla Armbruster, a 15-year-old student at Honeoye Falls-Lima High School. Her brother, Amer, an avid runner and former member of his high school's cross-country, Nordic skiing, and track teams, was diagnosed with juvenile absence epilepsy in 2019. Combining his passions for both running and supporting those with epilepsy, Amer founded Seize the Day: Amer’s Epilepsy Trail Run in 2022. Now that Amer is at college, Nyla has taken over the promotion and fundraising for this event as race chair. Nyla is “proud to take [the event] over and try to build on what he has created.”
Join us in supporting a great cause and enjoying a day of fun and fitness at beautiful Mendon Ponds Park. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by epilepsy in our community.
